Filmed last year and completed during lockdown, ‘Nicola Kathrens Rare Knitwear’ is an engaging film about school misfit, sometime merchant seawoman, sometime actress, fashion designer and artisan, Nicola ‘Nicca’ Kathrens.
Her first business grew at an exponential rate; out of control, in fact. The business went bust and Nicca was declared bankrupt. So how did she manage to pick herself back up again to create wonderful knitted garments?
Nicca talks about her life, her successes and failures and her elegant, highly individual, highly regarded bespoke clothing, which she produces with the help of a small team of artisans in Lyme Regis.
