Your Legion

We have just completed a short film for The Royal British Legion – guardians of Poppy Day and one of our most important charitable organisations.

The target audience are 65-90 year olds who have donated to the Royal British Legion, and the film is designed to engage Legion supporters and show a clear need for funds.

Supporters care strongly about the Armed Forces Community and their knowledge of the Legion’s services vary; some donate because they feel that they should, and others deeply believe in the supportive work that the Legion enables. They know that The Royal British Legion offers support to the Armed Forces Community in a variety of ways. What they may not know is that often the first point of contact that these beneficiaries have with the Legion is with an Advice and Information Officer. They use their specialist skills and knowledge to point people in the right direction and be there along the way if needed.

Our approach

Filmed in just a single day – our challenge was to show how the Legion can have a positive, often life saving impact, supporting ex-service people and their families, at a local level.

We chose a simple but effective approach which features John McCarthy, an Advice and Information Officer, based in Colchester, talking passionately about some to the vital work the Legion does through its Pop In centres and the work of the Legion’s Handy Van service, which is only possible thanks to the generous donations of the Legion’s supporters.

The Legion will use the film to raise awareness and increase donations from existing and new donors. Aimed specifically at readers of the supporter newsletter, ‘Poppy Press’, the video will encourage them to visit the Poppy Press landing page in order to find out more about, and better understand, the Advice and Information services provided by the Legion.
