Unlocking the infinite potential of biology

Although not exactly a start-up, Synthace are a pioneering new kid on the biosciences block. And they are beginning to have a real impact, by helping to transform biological research into an engineering discipline.

As a biosciences optimisation company (basically taking other scientist’s experiments and accelerating and improving the research process), they found it hard to do the type of experimentation they knew was possible, in order to achieve results in more a timely and accurate way.

The biology research laboratory, although often full of high-tech equipment, is a relatively traditional environment. Scientists often carry out long and laborious experiments, transferring liquids, bit by bit, with a hand-held pipette, making notes as they go with pen and paper. The experiment can take months or more to complete before the results are compiled by the scientist on a spreadsheet. Very time consuming, very inefficient and prone to error.

Synthace needed a way to speed up this process, so they began to develop Antha.

Antha is a software platform that connects laboratory equipment and automates biology protocols and experimentation.

Antha is able to run consistent, reproducible workflows and produces integrated data in days rather than months.

Antha connects

The results Antha is able to achieved are game-changing.

The success of Antha — with enormous potential for further development — means that Synthace are now introducing it to the wider biology research community, and it is being eagerly received as scientists realise its potential.

Hound Dog Films

As the company were gearing up for the inevitable expansion of their business, Hound Dog Films were brought in to help develop a video strategy.

Our aim is to put video at the centre of their marketing and communication activities – from introducers and explainers, to training and recruitment, to case studies and thought leadership.

First Films

After many months working closely on the strategy with the Synthace team we have just launched their first two films – promotional scene-setters; one to introduce Synthace, the company, the other to introduce Antha.
